The nice weather has finally arrived! For safety reasons we ask that flip flops not be worn to schoo. Sandals with a back strap and sturdy soles are fine. Also, students participate in gym and/or "bootcamp" most days of the week, and therefore having running shoes at school each day ensures they are able to participate.
We have a lot going on this week in 1/2P! This week we have the Smartboard in our room so we are going to learn about KidBlog - a blogging site for students. More information will be available on the class website soon. The grade 2's (and grade 1's if they wish) will be learning about multiplication. Also, we have Daily 5, Bootcamp and printing. There will not be any new word wall words this week, or a song/poem. I am also looking forward to our PLC Dance on Friday morning.
I am looking forward to tomorrow! P.J., board game and pizza day all rolled into one! Please don't forget to bring in a snack for the morning.
Today the boys and girls talked about how they are going to help take care of the Earth. Suggestions included not littering and picking up litter they find, planting trees and flowers, using reusable containers, recycling paper, cans and plastic. After our first day of our Garbageless Lunch Challenge, Table 3 is in the lead. Way to go everyone though for getting involved so quickly!
This week will be a busy one. We will be learning about irregular plural words, continuing with our math unit on probability, and beginning our unit centred around Earth Day. In addition, the grade 2's will be taking taking their CAT test Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Studying is not needed - just a good night's sleep and a healthy breakfast. Finally, we will be having our free "Loonie for Licence" Wednesday afternoon. A note will be coming home Monday.
1/2P raised $882.86 for our Read-A-Thon!!! Thank you VERY MUCH Mom's, Dad's
and family members! Please see "Read-A-Thon 2013" for more information. We have reached our class goal of raising $400! Our total stands at $444.00. The grade 1's and 2's will now get to enjoy an afternoon of free "Loonie for Licence" activities (date will be announced soon).
Also we have a new top fundraiser! Thank you Adeshbir for collecting $100 in pledges. Great job! There is only 1 day left, but we are in second place overall for the Top Class at Forest Glade. Just another $40 could put us in the lead and we would get to enjoy a pizza party! Way to go 1/2P!! |
